Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.
Salado Isolation Mining Contractors (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Electrician to join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.
The successful candidate will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment, mobile equipment, and power distribution systems up to 13,800 volts. The candidate is required to attain and maintain the qualifications/training necessary to perform their job scope and conduct frequent inspections of work area to ensure safe working conditions. The candidate must be able to follow written work instructions and adhere company safety policies in addition to pass a Pulmonary Function Test to be able to wear a respirator. This position is intended to support surface mining and/or underground mining electrical activities at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant.

This position will be filled with SIMCO USW membership first in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) before any other candidate considerations.

What we offer:
Trainee pay rate is $37.74 per hour. After all standard qualifications have been met and are maintained, the rate of pay is $46.24 with annual increases in August to $48.55 (2025) and $49.76 (2026) per the CBA.
