Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Continuous Improvement Specialist (CIS) to join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.

What You'll Do
CIS are leaders who work to change the way people think about organizational norms, systems & processes in pursuit of continuous improvement. They use technical & interpersonal skills to solve complex problems. Using a variety of tools in partnering and continuous improvement, they drive change in the projects and programs as they facilitate and lead. They are master communicators in their roles as leaders, mentors, and trainers.
Leadership – Leads the teams by understanding interdependencies of cross-departmental ownership and involves stakeholders in the development of comprehensive solutions that address root cause issues impacting the organization (versus fixing a symptom).
Project Management – Manages, facilitates, and executes projects with a high amount of autonomy using logical and structured approach for problem solving and continuous improvement.
Communication & Stakeholder Interaction - Presents technical information to executive level stakeholders, technical & non-technical audiences, and internal & external customers. Communicates with employees at all levels of the company.
Enterprise Impact – Uses problem-solving techniques to become a model of operational excellence and project management for the Department of Energy (DOE). Defines strategies and provides insight on how to effectively prioritize and manage them. Develops tools, dashboards, and queries to monitor & improve performance.
Subject Matter Expertise (SME) - Acts as an SME for Partnering and Continuous Improvement programs, methodologies & tools, which may include but are not limited to: Project scoping & chartering, Metric development and data collection, Process and value stream mapping, Fishbone diagram, fault trees, event trees (causal analysis), Failure modes and effects analysis (risk analysis), XY matrix (cause & effect matrix), Process modeling and simulation, Lean tools (e.g., 5S, 8 waste, pull, flow), Inferential statistics (confidence intervals, sample size), and TQM.
Teaching – Provide coaching and training to sustain excellent performance.
Exempt Grade Level(s) (30-36)

Minimum salary $78,719 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
