Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.
Salado Isolation Mining Contractors (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Hoist Operator to join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.
The Hoist Operator will be expected to train and qualify to operate the hoisting systems (a friction hoist and a drum hoist). Must qualify as a shaft tender, forklift operator, surface haul truck operator and must be able to become respirator qualified. Will qualify as an incidental rigger to perform complex rigging operations. Will be required to follow all WIPP site safety procedures, regulations, and policies as well as successfully complete site training, including site access, underground access, Conduct of Operations, and radiological courses of instruction. Will qualify as a lockout/tagout technician or authorizing supervisor.

This position will be filled with SIMCO USW membership first in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement before any other candidate considerations.
What we offer:
Pay rate is $40.96 per hour.
