Administrative Assistant - Capital Asset Projects

Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Administrative Assistant and join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will work within the Capital Asset Projects organization with duties to include: assisting in the development and publishing of program documents, manage the departmental interface with the ARVR process, proofing and developing internal and external presentations, managing departmental purchase requisitions, serve as departmental Training Coordinator, manage the assignment of administrative duties through the department, assist/facilitate programmatic implementation, and all other duties as assigned. Being able to self-initiate tasks and take ownership of programmatic requirements is a must. Perform highly specialized and varied technical, administrative duties in staff function through application of advanced knowledge, principles, and techniques without direction. Develop and monitor variety of information. Assume full responsibility for completion of specialized and highly varied technical, administrative programs and activities with little or no direction. Includes problem resolution, planning, organizing, and executing from inception to completion. Develop and monitor information on budgets, schedules, statistical reports, manpower levels, financial plans and forecasts, and similar areas, as assigned. Recommend, interpret, and implement internal administrative policies and procedures.

The position requires ability to interact professionally with multiple levels of management, employees, and job applicants. Must exercise good judgement, discretion, and professionalism in all matters.

Non-Exempt Salary Grade (28-32)

Minimum Requirements: These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and completed applications are the means of determination.

  • Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of administrative experience, or
  • Associate’s degree with seven (7) years of administrative experience, or
  • High School diploma or Equivalency with eleven (11) years of administrative experience is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have excellent written and interpersonal communications.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and a keen ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the WIPP facility and its mission.

Starting salary $67,817 per year *

*Base salary will be dependent upon candidate's background (i.e. education and experience)
