Electrical Maintenance Supervisor

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor and join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will provide direct technical support to Zone Maintenance Manager for the safe performance of Electrical maintenance activities. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to, performing preventive, corrective and modification maintenance on underground Mining, Hoisting, and Waste Handling power distribution systems up to 13,800 volts. Attain and maintain the qualifications and training necessary to perform field maintenance and oversight of craft electricians. Review drawings, procedures, and specifications to assure compliance with code requirements, provide direct technical support for the electrical craft, and provide support for the development of written instructions, procedures, and field work. Coordinate with other work groups including QA, Waste Handling, Operations, Engineering and Safety. Ensure electrical activities conform to all applicable DOE, MSHA, OSHA, NFPA, New Mexico Mining Code requirements and Site Procedures. Perform routine inspections of field equipment and provide craft oversight to correct any identified deficiencies. Must be able to pass a Pulmonary Function Test and qualify wearing and working in a respirator. Must be willing to work in contaminated areas.

Exempt Salary Grade (28-32)

Minimum Requirements: These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and completed applications are the means of determination.

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or
  • Associate’s Degree with four (4) years of relevant experience, or
  • High School Diploma or GED with eight (8) years of relevant experience is required.
  • Must have strong knowledge in low and high voltage controls up to 13,800-volt distribution systems.
  • Three (3) years of nuclear experience is required. (This position is included in the Training Implementation Matrix (TIM). Fulltime related academic training may be substituted for two (2) of the three (3) years of Nuclear experience. Experience in Design, Construction, and Operations Training may be considered applicable Nuclear experience on a case-by-case basis.)

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Preference given to those candidates with experience working at a DOE site, Mine, or Industrial Facility.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications and work control processes is preferred.
  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Starting salary $67,817 per year *

*Base salary will be dependent upon candidate's background (i.e. education and experience)
