Hoisting Crew Supervisor

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Hoisting Crew Supervisor and join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the daily operations of the WIPP Hoists that will ensure personnel safety and compliance to maintain access to the WIPP Underground under the direction of a Hoisting Crew Manager. Provide operational support to hoisting operation crews. Provide direction, oversight, and guidance to crew personnel. Ensure all procedures, policies, and regulations are followed and ensure all required training, qualifications programs and documentation are properly maintained. Help plan, schedule, and assign work to personnel as necessary. Maintain appropriate interfaces with other departments supported by hoist crews. Ensure compliance with the bargaining unit contract. Ensure all work is performed safely and compliantly while providing timely support to mission objectives. Must be able to qualify as a Hoistman and Shaft Tender. Must be able to obtain and maintain qualifications for wearing all required PPE, including but not limited to respiratory protection equipment. May be assigned to 7/10A, 7/10, 4/10 backshift, or other shift as needed.

Exempt Salary Grade (28-30)

  • Bachelor’s degree, or
  • Associate’s degree with four (4) years of relevant experience, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of relevant experience is required.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous supervisory and/or management experience is preferred.
  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Starting salary $67,817 per year *

*Base salary will be dependent upon candidate's background (i.e. education and experience)
