Program Assessment Staff/Senior Staff Specialist

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Program Assessment Staff/Senior Staff Specialist and join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The Contractor Assurance Department is seeking an individual experienced in conducting assessments, familiar with nuclear or high-hazard facility operation and knowledgeable of a broad range of regulatory requirements (e.g., CFRs, DOE Directives) to augment the Program Assessment Team staff.

Program Assessment Team members provide senior management, line management, and program owners with formal assessment of programs and areas of risk that are critical to the success of the WIPP mission. Team members exercise a high degree of independence to identify, schedule, plan, staff, conduct, and document assessments. Assessments may be conducted by a single individual or a group of internal or external participants, and may cover a single or collection of processes, systems, or programs.

Collateral duties may include assisting with development and implementation of the Program Assessments function and support of Contractor Assurance System and Regulatory Assurance Program activities.

Exempt Salary Grade (34-36)

Minimum Requirements: These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and completed applications are the means of determination.

  • Bachelor’s degree with fifteen (15) years relevant experience, or
  • Associates degree with nineteen (19) years relevant experience, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with twenty-three (23) years relevant experience.
  • Understanding of nuclear or high-hazard facility operations.
  • Familiarity with applicable DOE Directives.
  • Experience planning and conducting assessments.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • DOE nuclear facility experience.
  • Knowledge of Contractor Assurance System programs.
  • Knowledge of the WIPP facility and workforce.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with standard business software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat).

Starting salary $107,021 per year *

*Base salary will be dependent upon candidate's background (i.e. education and experience)
