Work Control Planner

Department: MU-MA Work Control
Location: Carlsbad, NM

Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Work Control Planner and join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

As a work control planner, you will be responsible for effectively planning corrective/preventive maintenance Work Control Documents. Your main objective will be to ensure that work activities are properly planned and scheduled to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors to gather work requirements and establish priorities.
  • Develop detailed work plans including task sequencing, resource requirements, and estimated timelines.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure alignment of schedules and resources.
  • Monitor work progress and communicate any deviations from the schedule to stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and resolve any potential scheduling conflicts or impediments to successful project completion.
  • Continuously evaluate work processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Generate reports and presentations to provide updates on work schedules and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, schedules, and related documentation.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Exempt Salary Grade (30-34)

Minimum Requirements: These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and completed applications are the means of determination.

  • Bachelor’s Degree with two (2) years of professional experience, or
  • Associates Degree plus six (6) years of professional experience, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with ten (10) years of professional experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Operations experience within the DOE complex or commercial nuclear industry.
  • Maintenance experience/certification (Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation & Controls)
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to maintenance activities.
  • Professional certification in maintenance planning (e.g. Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional) is a plus.
  • Previous WIPP Project experience.
  • Proven experience as a Work Control Planner or a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning principles, practices, and scheduling techniques.
  • Proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other relevant software.

Starting salary $76,724 per year *

*Base salary will be dependent upon candidate's background (i.e. education and experience)
